Ikura Hibachi Sushi Ramen is a beautiful restaurant. Located in a modern strip mall with plenty of parking on the popular Carrollton Avenue, makes it pretty much a winner right there.
It’s a triple threat restaurant by serving the entertaining Hibachi style grill cooking at your table, the formal Sushi Bar and bowls of steaming Ramen and diverse Asian Specialties. I enjoy sitting at the bar, which is right inside the front door of the restaurant. You get a great view of the busy street and the entire eatery.
I found their soups flavorful and well prepared. The Seafood Tom Yum Soup with shrimp, calamari, scallop and vegetables is a great deal ($6.95). I enjoy having Miso Soup as an appetizer and Sake when I order Sushi. Their selection of Specialty Rolls is extensive with New Orleans style names like: Katrina ($13.95), Big N Easy ($12.95), Tarantula ($13.95), Who Dat ($13.95), and Angry Bird ($11.95). I order the Seafood Poboy Specialty Roll ($13.95). It includes Crawfish, fried shrimp, fried soft shell crab and lettuce inside. The tour de force is the sauce, which is made with eel and spicy mayo. The roll is wrapped in Soy paper. It is delicious! The Lunch Roll Combo ($8.95-$12.95) s a good deal and they’ve even thrown in a bit of Korea with their offering of Beef Bulgogi ($11.50) found under Asian Specialties.
