Greetings! I’m happy to recommend one of the gems of the French Quarter, Port of Call. Since 1963, this great restaurant has been serving steaks and the best burgers to locals and visitors alike. They have received many awards including Zagat Survey’s Best Burger, Citysearch Best Burger in New Orleans and Gambit Weekly, Best Burger. Port of Call has loyal customers like myself who return again and again.
The menu is limited, so I strongly suggest ordering the Monsoon, a cheeseburger and a loaded baked potato. The Monsoon is their signature drink and it is a sweet and refreshing punch like drink. I think one is plenty, but if you have two Monsoons you may not remember much of the experience. You can keep the plastic cup as a bonus souvenir. The staff is always professional and friendly. I enjoy sitting at the bar, but the table service is equally as good.
It’s very popular so there are often long lines waiting to get in. It’s worth the wait and the once inside you feel like you are in a cool, dark club that has a great atmosphere. The customers seem to all be in on the awesomeness of the place and it can be a fun experience. Note to self: Don’t go if you cannot wait in line to be seated.
