Avenue Pub (1732 St. Charles Ave – Uptown)

Using clipboards rather than a blackboard or menu behind the bar, Avenue Pub delivers its regularly changing beer menu daily based on the new and tapped kegs that go in and out of this premier craft beer bar and its impressively long line of taps—arguably the best in New Orleans. At any given moment, the pub might have six or seven different IPAs, two or three different barleywines or five or six stouts and porters. And that’s not even taking into account the dozens of different bottled beers that further expand the bar’s extensive beer list. To top it off, Avenue Pub as a full bourbon, rye and whiskey list and a kitchen that serves up gourmet burgers and bar food. Try one of the signature burgers made with prime local beef or the Dump Truck Fries, hand-cut fries topped with béchamel, roasted pork, grilled onions and port wine au jus.

Bayou Beer Garden (326 N Jefferson Davis – Mid-City)

While the Bayou Beer Garden may not harvest craft beer, it does serve beer in a lush garden-like setting with a huge backyard porch filled with bar stools and small tables surrounded by the emerald green foliage you can so often find in New Orleans. The joint has a smaller bar out back, but the real treasure trove of craft beer is in the front of the house, where dozens of local and national craft beers line a long list for aficionados of all types of craft beer. This Mid-City spot also offers a solid menu of tantalizing bar food, including its signature 10 oz. burger or Gravy Fries, French fries topped with savory roast beef debris.
