At Southern Comfort Bed and Breakfast, we love both our guests and their pets. Being pet-friendly is another reason that we believe our B&B is a perfect spot for your next New Orleans getaway. We know how important it is to be able to care for your pet even while you intend to go on vacation—they are like your children after all! And that is why we cater to our guests and make their stay as comfortable as possible—including providing lodging for their pets while they are away from home.
You can find many great places in New Orleans to take out your dog and let him or her run around. At the end of Magazine St in the Uptown area—not far from Garden District B&B—you’ll come across an area locally known as The Fly Here you’ll find people and families of all ages enjoying the sunshine, having cookouts, crawfish boils and family get-togethers and throwing around balls and Frisbees to their dogs. Your dog will love the open air, soft grass and room to run.
You can also take your dog to NOLA City Bark, the 4.6-acre dog park located behind Popp’s Fountain in City Park in the Mid-City area, about 10 to 15 minutes away from our B&B. It has recently been reopened following a host of upgrades and refurbishments. You’ll enjoy separate play areas for small and big dogs, water fountains for both dogs and humans, shaded pavilions, an event lawn and quarter-mile-long walking trail, Mutt Mitts for clean-up and on-site restrooms. Its hours of operations are 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesday through Saturday and 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesdays.
Our general pet policy is that we do accept small dogs, but we have a few guidelines for our guests to follow. If there is any damage to the property, the pet owners will be responsible. While we would prefer that the dog does not get on the bed or furniture, we will provide a sheet if you allow it We would like to maintain a quiet atmosphere for all of our guests and ask that you keep your dog from barking. We also prefer that you bring your pet along with you when you leave our B&B. If you cannot bring him or her with you, we ask that it is only for a short time and that they be crated for the duration. Other policies can be found on our website.
So when you book your next New Orleans vacation with us, please feel free to bring your pet along. We’ll even have doggy treats awaiting their arrival!
