In the hustle and bustle of the passing year, it can be easy to get caught up in the day to day and forget to take some time to do a little traveling. Unless finances are keeping you from it, there’s really no need to forgo traveling—even if it means a quick weekend getaway to somewhere close by. Traveling gives you the opportunity to recharge your batteries, to see and experience new places, to try new foods and create memories that can last a lifetime. Here are a few New Year’s travel resolutions for 2014 that you can add to your list.
1) I will schedule a stay at a bed & breakfast.
Here at Southern Comfort B&B, we may be partial to the fun and unique aspects of staying in a bed & breakfast, but they really are a different way to travel and rest your head while in a new place. Instead of staying in a flavorless hotel room, you can stay in the comfort of a home specially renovated for guests with all its special charm and a homey feeling. Plus, you can enjoy a complimentary breakfast each morning prepared fresh for you rather than traditional hotel buffet fare. Even just a weekend getaway is a perfect amount of time to spend at a bed & breakfast, and many of them are quite affordable if you spend some time doing your research.
2) I will try new foods.
It can be easy getting stuck in eating the same old foods back at home. Why not have a little culinary adventure and travel to a place where you can experience some unique and delicious cuisine that you may not have even dreamed of trying before? Trying new foods goes hand in hand with traveling, and you may surprise yourself at the different foods you find you like or even at the simple fact that you tried something completely different at all.
3) I will visit New Orleans.
Again, we may be a little biased, but everyone should visit New Orleans at least once in their lifetime. You won’t find another city like it in the world, and the new experiences you’ll have will be truly unforgettable. From incredible food and music to spectacular architecture and attractions, there is never a shortage of things to do when you visit the Crescent City.
Make a travel resolution this year, and you’ll thank yourself for making the effort and for making new memories that you won’t soon forget.
