Exclusive Wines, Exceptional Seafood: Superior Seafood and Oyster

Just 3 blocks away from Southern Comfort B&B, Superior Seafood and Oyster Bar is a central St. Charles establishment that is growing in popularity. Located at the busy intersection of Napoleon and St. Charles Ave, they are open for lunch and dinner seven days a week plus brunch on Sundays, a menu that includes “hangover” cocktails in addition to a wide array of foods.

Obviously, judging by their name, the restaurant features seafood and oysters on all of their menus. From the oyster bar, you can order raw Gulf Coast oysters, chargrilled oysters, Angels on Horseback, which are lightly friend, bacon-wrapped oysters, and Oysters Superior, which are a combination of chargrilled, Bienville and Angels on Horseback oysters.

Using only the freshest local ingredients, Superior Seafood provides a menu complete with Louisiana cuisine that features more than just seafood. Their shellfish menu includes classics like BBQ shrimp, shrimp and grits, jumbo lump crab cakes and seared scallops. On their fresh catch menu, you’ll find Salmon Lafitte, or grilled salmon topped with a white wine lemon caper butter sauce, Cornmeal-crusted Drum and Redfish Creole in addition to other fish specialties. They also have steaks, pork chops, chicken on the menu and pasta featuring seafood, Andouille and crawfish, and chicken and wild mushroom.

They have a wide selection of wines, by the glass, half carafe and carafe. They have an exclusive house pours wine program and are the only establishment in the state to serve these wines. They have a decent selection of mostly domestic brews and a cocktail menu of classics, martinis and signature drinks. Together, they comprise an imbibing experience unique to this Uptown hotspot.

Their daily happy hour from 4pm till 6:30pm is also a popular attraction. In addition to $.50 raw oysters, they offer two for one mojitos—a favorite local cocktail—half off of house wine bottles and $3 draft beer.

In addition to their food and drinks menus, the restaurant’s architecture and interior décor entice visitors as well. It has a bistro feel inside with an imported mirror and bar top from France for a Parisian look.

Superior Seafood and Oyster Bar is a great place to try a number of Louisiana seafood classics just off the St. Charles streetcar line. Opened just a year ago, this restaurant is becoming a destination for Creole-inspired dishes in the Uptown area.
